File Folder Category Activities! Working on building vocabulary through learning categories can be fun and engaging with these file folder category activities! I love targeting categories with my students because it builds vocabulary and provides a way for students to describe objects. I am consistently pulling this activity out of my closet for therapy sessions. My students love naming the objects and categories then placing the items into their appropriate group. Hands On Articulation Activities – Flipping Pancakes!

Oh my goodness have things changed with the this pandemic. Most of the country, if not fully offering distance learning, is providing at least some form at this point. This has forced us to adjust, adapt and think differently on how to teach specific skills over a new platform. Teaching a skill which really requires manipulatives, especially during the initial stages, has been particularly challenging. Halloween Sight Word Activities! – Climb and Slide

  The Climb & Slide has been a favorite literacy center activity. This game is a variation of Chutes and Ladders and it offers a fun way to practice sight words. There’s a little bit of assembly required, but once laminated, the games will last for years. To assemble the activity, simply print the the templates on office paper and glue to a file folder. I color-coordinated the three game boards per Dolch sight word list, but any old file folder will do.
