Valentine’s Day Math Activities

Happy Valentine’s Day! These Valentine’s Day math activities are just a “sweet” addition to your Valentine’s Day math centers! We’ve developed three Valentine’s Day themed activities for our kindergarten and first grade friends. So first up, is the Valentine Match Base 10 activity. This activity has a built in self checking feature which makes it ideal for independent practice. Assembling this activity is super simple. Just print the bears and cut them out. You’ll have an activity that will last for years. For this activity, students match the base ten blocks to the bears and then turns the square containing the picture representation of the base ten blocks over. Addition Games for Winter Math Centers

During the chilly winter months of December, January and February, it’s always fun to pull out our addition games for winter math centers. Actually, living in northern Michigan, winter activities can be appropriate all the way until mid April. I actually love winter- and creating winter themed activities is tons of fun! Spider Addition FREEBIE!

Halloween Math Activities Freebie! I was out shopping last week and popped into JoAnn Fabrics. I found these super adorable spider buttons. LOVE THEM! So, I created a few Halloween Math Activities with this guy. spider math Addition facts game Just for my first-grade friends, I thought I’d make a spider addition activity for practicing addition. Supplies Needed: dice dry erase marker dry erase pocket or laminate plastic spiders or other manipulatives First, you’ll need to laminate the template or place it in a dry erase pocket. Bunny Addition Game, Addition Facts to 10

Bunny Addition Game The Penguin Addition activity was such a hit that I thought I’d create a Bunny Addition Game for a spring-themed activity along the same line. Goldfish crackers worked great as the manipulatives for the penguins, but I just couldn’t find just the right manipulative for this activity until I stopped in at our local Walmart.  This package of foam stickers had just what I was looking for! Of course, what I really wanted was only those small foam eggs, but the spring-themed animals were so cute…I think I’ll be able to put them to good use. Of course you could use jelly beans as the manipulative, but I was afraid things could get a little sticky 🙂
