Spider Web Addition FREEBIE!

I was out shopping last week and popped into JoAnn Fabrics. I found these super adorable spider buttons. LOVE THEM! Just for my first grade friends I thought I’d make a spider addition activity for practicing addition. First you’ll need to laminate the template or place it in a dry erase pocket. You’ll then need dice and a dry erase marker. If you could find the plastic spiders, that’d be great, but if not there are other Halloween themed manipulatives that would work just as well. Have the student roll the die and then write the number in the square and count that number of spiders placing them on the web. After rolling a second time, writing the number and

Halloween Freebie!

It’s always fun to add a little holiday fun into your small group instruction. I love the 4-In-A-Row activity as it’s a fast paced activity which allows for lots of practice opportunities. Playing this game is pretty simple. Each student will need about 15 bingo chips of the same color. Players take turns solving the problem and placing their colored chip on the square. The first player to have 4 of their colored chip in a row wins the game. There are four different Halloween themed game boards in this download. To add a little bit of Halloween fun, I found these felt eyeballs at Michael’s Craft Store. So instead of using bingo chips the kiddos can use these!

Robin’s Nest Addition FREEBIE

I’ve been doing a little computer “spring-cleaning” this past week and decided it was time to spruce up some of those older tried-and-true spring themed activities. You can find this FREEBIE in my Teachers Pay Teachers store. The Robin’s Nest Addition activity can be downloaded for FREE from my online Teachers Pay Teachers store. Enjoy!

Spring Themed Math Activity- Bunny Addition

The Penguin Addition activity was such a hit that I thought I’d create a spring themed activity along the same line.  Goldfish crackers worked great as the manipulatives  for the penguins, but I just couldn’t find just the right manipulative for this activity until I stopped in at our local Walmart.  This package of foam stickers had just what I was looking for! Of course what I really wanted was only those small foam eggs, but the spring themed animals were so cute…I think I’ll be able to put them to good use. Of course you could use jelly beans as the manipulative, but I was afraid things could get a little sticky 🙂  These foam eggs were absolutely perfect.

Penguin Math Activities

I have to say I’m just in love with the penguins that my fabulous artist, Kyle, created last year. It’s so much fun using them in our winter themed activities. For my pre-k and kindergarten friends I created these ice fishing scenes that are perfect for centers during the chilly winter months. Of course you could use any manipulative, but why not try using Goldfish crackers for an added twist. There are two different types of templates which allows you to differentiate this activity. For our little ones who have not yet mastered 1-1 correspondence templates with the fish printed have been provided. Winter scenes without the printed fish are provided for those who have mastered this skill. The Ice Fishing

Coin Sorting Freebie!

My little friend, Eleanor, is just learning the value of money. Sorting activities are the perfect first step in teaching money skills. It certainly helps children identify the differences in the coins.  Students first need to understand that the coins differ in size and shape and identify the coins before accurately count coin values. Although you can find plastic coins at any dollar store I’d recommend using real coins. It’s often difficult for our young learners to make that jump between the fake and the real money. Just click the following link to download the coin sorting template:  FREE Coin Sorting Template When teaching your students the coins you may wish to place posters within your classroom. Feel free to
