Yeah! Spring is almost here!  Living in the north, when the calendar says it’s spring it often doesn’t feel like spring at all. It is not uncommon to still have several inches of snow on the ground well into April. But when we flip that calendar to May- well, that’s when it feels like spring and that’s when I go grab those game boards for spring literacy centers. Winter 4 In a Row Sight Word Freebie!

Winter Sight Word Freebie! 4-In-A-Row games are one of my favorites. There is no assembly required. Just print and laminate (if you’d like), grab a few bingo chips, and then you’ll have a fun activity that your students will love for years to come. The fast-paced nature of the game also allows for many practice opportunities. How to play Playing the game is super simple. You’ll need two players with 10 of the same colored bingo chips. Players take turns reading a word and placing their colored chip in the square. The first student to get 4 bingo chips in a row either vertically, horizontally, or diagonally is the winner. Halloween Sight Word Activities! – Climb and Slide

  The Climb & Slide has been a favorite literacy center activity. This game is a variation of Chutes and Ladders and it offers a fun way to practice sight words. There’s a little bit of assembly required, but once laminated, the games will last for years. To assemble the activity, simply print the the templates on office paper and glue to a file folder. I color-coordinated the three game boards per Dolch sight word list, but any old file folder will do. These game board were specifically designed for Halloween, but I bet the kiddos will be asking to play this game all year long! Fun Games for Practicing Phonics, Sight Words, CVC Words, Magic e & R Controlled Vowels

Games For Practicing Phonics! I just love the Lucky You! activities for practicing sight words.  CVC Words, Magic e, and R Controlled Vowels games for words containing targeted phonics skills available also. These activities are perfect for St. Patrick’s themed centers.  Assemble the activity by simply printing the cards single-sided to double-sided then cut along the dotted line. Before you begin the game choose which cards and how many to use. Place the cards word-side down on the table. Your students will take turns picking a card and reading the words. If a player picks the “Lucky You!” card, he/she can choose two more cards. If a player picks the leprechaun card, well… all the cards must be put back.
