Fun Winter Themed FREEBIE for Practicing Sight Words

4-In-A-Row games are one of my favorites. There is no assembly required- just print and laminate if you’d like, grab a few bingo chips and you’ll have a fun activity that your students will love. The fast pace nature of the game also allows for many practice opportunities. Playing the game is super simple. The game requires two players each having about 10 of the same colored bingo chips. Players take turns reading a word and placing their colored chip in the square. Players try to be the first to get 4 bingo chips in a row either vertically, horizontally or diagonally. Players must be sure to block their opponent! Feel free to give it a try by downloading this

Spring Themed Game Boards for Teaching Sight Words

Yeah! May is here! It’s really here. Living in the north, when the calendar says it’s spring it often doesn’t feel like spring at all. It is not uncommon to still have several inches of snow on the ground well into April. But when we flip that calendar to May- well, that’s when it feels like spring and that’s when I go grab those spring-themed resources. One of my favorite spring theme activities for teaching sight words are the spring themed sight word game boards. There are 4 different designs and 9 game boards containing words from the Dolch 220 sight word list. Each game board contains 25 words from each of the 9 lists. The game boards are great

Just print and cut the word cards and you’ll have a holiday themed activity ready to go! Especially if you are using the activity for the sight words, you’ll want to be sure to differentiate the activity by choosing which and how many cards to use. Simply place the desired cards on the table and have your students take turns picking a card and reading the word. If the student picks the “Lucky You!” card, he/she can choose two more cards. If the student picks

Valentine’s Day FREEBIE!

These Valentine Game Boards are near and dear to my heart. Six years ago I sat down at my computer and created my very, very first activity for this blog. It was on my old PC using Publisher. Since then I’ve switched over to a Mac (thank goodness) and spruced the game boards up a bit, but every February when I pull them out from the activity box, those memories of just starting out with blogging and creating activities for my little friends come flooding back. There are nine game boards which correlate to the Dolch 220 sight word list. They are great for centers as you can differentiate for your students by using the game board at their level. All

Soccer Themed Sight Word Activities

Soccer is my game! I have so many fond memories of standing on the sidelines and watching my own children play. Having three children involved in the sport, it seems like we were always at the soccer field. My kids are all now in college and I sure miss those days.  Maybe not so much the grass-stained laundry, but certainly being outside watching my kids and their friends play a sport that they enjoy. Out of all the sports-themed activities, the soccer bundle is my favorite. Since many of my little friends play the sport, it’s certainly popular in center activities. Just for a storage idea, I used these file folder containers purchased at Office Max. All the file folder
